Trula Mae Phillips

February 21, 1933 — April 29, 2025

Worth County

Mrs. Trula Mae Phillips, 92, of Worth County, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

A time of viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday May 1, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bethel Holiness Tabernacle in Putney.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2025, at Bethel Holiness Tabernacle with her son, Pastor Noah Phillips officiating. Additional ministers who will share remarks will include Rev. Kendall Ward, Rev. Rob Dyess, and Rev. Chuck Scrivner. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Following the funeral, she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in the Hillcrest Cemetery, in Sylvester.

Born February 21, 1933, in Shelby, Kentucky, Mrs. Phillips was the daughter of the late Merlie and Caroline Kinney. She met the love of her life and married on October 13, 1954, and together they were blessed with 8 children. A military wife, Mrs. Phillips moved with her husband to several places. They lived in Pikesville, KY for several years and Romeo, IL for around 20 years where Mr. Phillips worked for General Motors. She supported her husband as a minister of the gospel as he pastored in Chicago, IL and Lamont, IL. In 1977 they moved to Worth County, GA where they continued to raise their family and serve the Lord.

Serving the Lord Jesus and caring for her family was the greatest joy of her life. She lived a life of faith yet was not exempt from many sorrows in the loss of 3 children that she greatly loved. Through it all she never let go of God’s unchanging hand. She joyfully served him with a smile and was always determined to make Heaven her home. Her greatest wish in this life was and is that all will join her someday in Heaven. She lived a life of Holiness, loved God’s word, and loved being in church hearing her son preach the gospel. She has now heard the words she so longed to hear, “Well done good and faithful servant, welcome home to the joys of The Lord.”

She was a faithful member of Bethel Holiness Tabernacle in Putney.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. James E. Phillips who passed away on March 18, 2023; 3 children, Larry Gene Phillips, Forrest James Phillips, and Shirley Phillips Powell; daughter-in-law, Cora Phillips; and son-in-law, Miles Powell.

Those left to cherish her precious memory include her children, Rev. Noah Phillips and Angie of Putney, William Phillips and Rhonda of Sylvester, Merlie Phillips and Julie of Poulan, Sheila Phillips Lee and Roger of Gordy, and Cindy Phillips Ward and Rev. Kendall of Poulan; sister, Brenda Holden of Killen, AL; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
