Susan Gurwell Talley

Mrs. Susan Gurwell Talley, 69, of Leesburg, peacefully passed away on Monday, November 2, 2026, at her home surrounded by her beloved family.

Born on October 26, 1957, in Richland, Washington, Susan was the daughter of the late George Leslie Gurwell and Jeane Slonaker Gurwell. She worked as a dental professional for several years. In her early years she was a professional ballet dancer and was a talented marksmanship competitor. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, but most of all she was a proud grandma that loved her grandbabies. Most any time her granddaughters were at ballet she was right there adoring them following in her footsteps. Susan greatly enjoyed history and especially World War II which inspired her to coauthor along with her husband a book called “NEVER GIVE UP THE JUMP.” Along with her husband she enjoyed riding with the patriot guard riders. She was very patriotic and proud of her father who served in World War II and her daughter and son-in-law, who have proudly served in the United States military. She was of the Christian faith and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her brother, George Richard “Rick” Gurwell.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, Jack Lamar Talley of Leesburg; her daughter, Kristen Harris and Walter, Jr. of Leesburg; sisters, Linda Odenborg and Neil, and Janell Fowler; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In accordance with her wishes she will be cremated and the family will host a memorial gathering at a later date to be announced.
