Born September 17, 1980, in Albany, he was the son of James and Dawan Barnhill.

Allen dedicated his entire career to law enforcement and serving his community, beginning his career at just 19 years old. At the time of his passing, he was proudly serving with the Leesburg Police Department. Throughout his career, he held several positions, including correctional officer, narcotics agent in Thomasville, police officer, road patrol corporal, and school resource officer and juvenile investigator with the Lee County School System. His 27 years of service reflected his dedication to protecting others and making a difference in the community he loved.

He served as a range officer for the National Rifle Association (NRA) and generously volunteered his time as a firearms instructor for shooting classes at Darton College. One of his favorite pastimes was squirrel hunting with his father, a cherished tradition that brought him great joy. Above all, he treasured spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews, who held a special place in his heart. He was a loving and devoted husband to his beloved wife, Candace, with whom he shared 20 beautiful years filled with love and cherished memories.

Allen was a man of strong Christian faith and a devoted member of The Church at the Groves in Lee County. His love for God, his family, and his community was evident throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ronald and Emma Barnhill, and his nephew Charlie.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife and best friend, Candace Barnhill of Albany; his parents, James and Dawan Barnhill of Baconton; two brothers, Bert Montgomery and Dion of Leesburg and Mike Montgomery and Heather of Marietta; father and mother in law, Harris and Pam Verner of Albany; nieces, Shelby, Sabrina, Elizabeth, Ella, and Brancey; nephews, Dalton, Max, Allen, and Jason; several great nieces and nephews and a host of extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
