Sarah Chattmon Knighton

Mrs. Sarah Knighton, 87, of Albany, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Pheobe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 15, 2023, in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. Her brother, Rev. Bobby Chattmon will officiate with interment to follow in the Riverside Cemetery.

Born July 31, 1936, in Leary, Mrs. Knighton was the daughter of the late Moses and Leila Bell Crayton Chattmon. She worked as a healthcare sitter for many years and was of the Baptist faith. She loved Jesus and her family was most dear to her heart. A loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Moses Chattmon.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Nelson Jones and Barbara of Albany, Ruby Jones of Jeffersonville, IN, Glen Jones of Albany, Wade Jones of Dublin, Will Jones and Dana of Maryland, and Cindy Jones and Justin of Albany; siblings, Katie Campbell, Joe Chattmon, Marie Solomon, Mary Williams, Dorothy Lynch, Kathleen Jones, Geraldine Tatum, Minnie Mae Lemon, Elizabeth Graham, and Rev. Bobby Chattmon; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
