Raymond Wade Yelverton, 62, of Albany, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Sunday, April 28, 2019. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m, Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at Life Church of Leesburg. Pastor Matthew Schluckebier and Dr. H.W. Rutledge will officiate. Interment will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery with Military Honors. Born July 18, 1956, in Cuthbert, Ray proudly served his country in The United States Air Force. He later went to work as a police officer in Albany and Tifton and eventually worked as an office manager and paralegal for Phil Cannon & Associates Law Firm of Albany. He was a faithful member of Life Church of Leesburg where he served and volunteered in many areas of the church including overseeing the finances and a Sunday School Teacher. He was ordained as a minister and called by God to minister the gospel to those currently in, or recently released from prison. He shared his testimony with many of how God completely transformed his life and how he could do the same for anyone. His favorite scripture was Romans 12:1-2. Survivors include his beloved wife, Dianne Sansbury Yelverton; his mother, Carol Louise Yelverton; sister, Pamela Yelverton Simmons (Randy) of Terrell County and brother, Michael D. Yelverton (Marti) of Albany; mother-in-law, Ruby Pearl Strickland; father-in-law, Joe Thomas Strickland; brother and sister-in-law, Sammy and Joanne Strickland; niece, Amanda Simmons; nephews, Devon Yelverton and Jackson Eubanks; great-nephew Kole Simmons; a host of step-family members and extended family; and his beloved dog Snuggles or “baby boy” as he referred to him. Ray was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Howard Yelverton. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 at Life Church of Leesburg, 588 Fussell Rd. Leesburg, GA 31763. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Life Church of Leesburg or to Kairos Prison Ministry at 100 DeBary Plantation Blvd, DeBary, FL 32713.
