Mrs. Myrtle “Lucy” Lucille Teel, 82, of Leesburg, peacefully passed away on June 9, 2026, at her home while surrounded by her beloved family.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Thundering Springs Cemetery of Lee County. The family will visit with friends following the service. Rev. Morris Harp will officiate.
Born January 9, 1944, in Laurel, Mississippi, Lucy was the daughter of the late Frank Field Overstreet and Samantha Pryor Overstreet. Growing up in rural Mississippi, she was the baby of 11 siblings. She remained a source of strength and support through the years for her family. In High School she played on the basketball team and remained in contact with many of her teammates and friends. Upon graduating she moved away to Gulf Port, MS where she worked at Bell Telephone Company. After marriage she moved to Albany with her husband who served in the Marines. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who cared well for her family. She was a wonderful cook who always prepared large and delicious meals. Lucy also loved gardening and enjoyed her plants and flowers, always sharing the abundance from her garden with others. Lucy cherished her daily conversations with her “sister” Charlotte Mosley. The highlight of her year was always attending the Pryor family reunion each June. Mrs. Teel was a faithful and dedicated member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church of Lee County where she was active in the senior’s group and ladies’ mission ministry.
In addition to her parents and all of her siblings, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Teel. The family takes solace in knowing that she is now reunited with the love of her life, Don.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Stacia Strickland of Jacksonville, FL, Kimberly King of Sasser, GA, Lesly Fincher of Leesburg, GA; 9 grandchildren, Sam Strickland, Sara Strickland, Bradley Davidson, Bryan King, Shane King, Katelyn King, Aleana King, Devin Fincher, Dean Fincher; several great grandchildren and her beloved dog, Missy, a mini schnauzer.
