Mary Kathryn "Kit" Pryor

Mary Kathryn (Kit) Pryor, 69, of Arlington, Texas passed away on December 24, 2025, after a brief illness.

Kit was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1956 to Joseph Ernest Pryor and Jane Howle Truette Pryor. The family moved to Athens, Tennessee in 1959 where Kit grew up, and in 1977, the family moved to Arlington, Texas, where Kit lived the remainder of her life. Kit attended City Park Elementary School in Athens, Athens Junior High School, and graduated from McMinn County High School in 1975. She studied business management at Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and the University of Texas at Arlington, before qualifying as a travel agent through Braniff Airlines.

Kit worked in marketing and customer service positions for a number of businesses over the years including travel agencies, medical service providers, and senior living and long term care facilities. Most recently, Kit was employed as a customer care representative with Chewy where her love of animals could be used to assist others with their pets.

Kit was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Ernest Pryor and Jane Howle Truette Pryor. She is survived by her daughter, Laurel Morris and husband Jared; sisters Elizabeth Pryor Hartman and husband Richard; and Joanne Pryor Romans and husband, John. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces, including Gregory Hartman, wife Rebekah and children, Charlotte, Gideon and Adalynn; Alex Romans; Margaret Sutton, husband Benjamin and son Phineas; and Tyler (TJ) Romans, wife Jordan and daughter Presley. Kit fiercely loved her family, especially doting on the children.

A memorial service was held on January 3, 2025, at the Arlington Baptist University Chapel in Arlington, Texas. A graveside burial service will be held January 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the cemetery at the DeSoto Methodist Church in DeSoto, Georgia, where Kit will be laid to rest beside her parents and in the company of many of her extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the following organizations:
