Lillian Joyce Dowling

Mrs. Lillian Joyce Dowling, 88, of Leesburg, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, in Leesburg.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, September 14, 2025, in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 3:30 p.m. Rev. Lee Smith will officiate with interment to follow in the Leesburg Cemetery.

Born on November 16, 1936, in Hammond, IN, Mrs. Dowling was the daughter of the late John and Lillian Vecsey Whitsett. She worked for Armstong’s Jewelers of Hammond, IN for 25 years and was a payroll clerk for the Pasco County Florida School system for several years. Mrs. Dowling was a strong and independent woman having lost her husband in 1987. She was always as a bright light and the life of the party. After moving to Leesburg, to be closer to her son and family, she attended Leesburg First Methodist. She loved animals and especially dogs. A loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend she will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Kelly Dowling of Lee County; grandchildren, Sarah Vanbrackle and Charlie, and Amanda Lee and Jason all of Holly Springs, N.C., and Christopher Dowling who is currently attending Georgia Tech; her sister, Luana Homans of Saint John, IN; several nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dowling was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Dowling.
