Mr. Lamar “Royce” Ledden, 83, of Leesburg, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, after a courageous 30-year battle with cancer.
Services honoring his life will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, November 8, at Friendship Batist Church of Lee County with visitation one-hour prior beginning at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Mark Spraggins and Rev. Ron Stinson will officiate.
Born on September 12, 1943, in Cuthbert, Royce was the son of the late Dennis Hansel Ledden and Alice Price Ledden. He worked in the Pecan industry most of his life and proudly served as manager of Shamrock Ranch of Albany since 1971. He worked hard to support his family whom he cherished. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren who he was immensely proud of. Royce enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting many things such as arrowheads, rocks, coins, knives, watches, and flashlights. He could usually be found making everyone laugh with his humorous spirit, sharing his smile with a Dr. Pepper in hand. He attended Friendship Baptist Church of Lee County where he enjoyed singing in the choir.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 62 years, Elaine Bass Ledden; his daughters, Aprile L. Young and Kurt of Jefferson, and Candice L. Butler and Rhett of Commerce; grandchildren, Alysse Villa and Yerson, Alayna, Ethan, Cullan, and Ember; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
His sickness may have taken him from our sight, but it can never take away the love we will carry in our hearts. Rest peacefully, Royce. Your fight is over, your pain is gone, and your Heavenly home awaits you. Until we meet again. We will always love you!
