Joel Stephen "Steve" Brown

Mr. Joel Stephen “Steve” Brown, 74, of Leesburg, peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Willson Hospice House in Albany.

A memorial service honoring Steve’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Born January 11, 1952, in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of the late Joel Stokes Brown and Eleanor Dunn Brown.

Steve spent many dedicated years working for Stewart's Organ & Piano Company in Albany, GA, where he was known for his strong work ethic and friendly nature. He also spent several years at the state of Georgia working for the Georgia Archives. Outside of work, he found joy in life's simple treasures. He had a passion for antiquing and loved buying and selling on eBay, always on the lookout for a unique find. Yard sales were one of his favorite pastimes, and he especially enjoyed traveling to community sales across the state, including the annual Peaches to the Beaches Yard Sale. An avid golf fan, Steve enjoyed watching tournaments on television, and he could often be found relaxing at his computer playing his favorite card game, Spider Solitaire.

Steve will be remembered for his kind and generous heart, his warm smile, and his gentle spirit. A natural peacemaker, he always sought to bring happiness to those around him. His infectious laugh, playful sense of humor, and ability to make others smile left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Above all, Steve treasured the time he shared with his life partner, Michael. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Steve's legacy of kindness, compassion, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved fur baby, Scooter.

Those left to cherish his memory include his life partner, Michael Grimsely of Albany; and a host of friends and family that loved him deeply.
