Gerald Johnson

Mr. Gerald Johnson, 62, of Baconton, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Bethel Holiness Tabernacle in Putney. Rev. Noah Phillips will officiate with interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Sylvester. Born September 19, 1953 in Sylvester, Mr. Johnson was the son of the late Kenneth Johnson and Odessa Anderson Gaughf. He worked for many years in construction, enjoyed mechanic work on racecars and was a NASCAR fan. He was an avid hunter and always had a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He attended Bethel Holiness Tabernacle in Putney. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Kay Wells Johnson; sons and daughter-in-law, James and Sherrie Johnson of Albany and Blake Johnson of Baconton; brothers, Walter Johnson of Baconton and Clyde Johnson of Lee County; sisters and brother-in-laws, Shirley and Buddy Murphy of Sylvester, Barbara Eason of Albany, Faye Farmer of Poulan, Carol Griffin of Worth County and Cathy and Phillip Raby of Sylvester and seven grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Bethel Holiness Tabernacle.
