Mr. Gerald O’Neal Cordle, 85, of Leesburg, Georgia, went home to be with Jesus on February 28, 2026.
A visitation and viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home with his grandson, Rev. Michael Cherry officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, in Americus.
Born June 9, 1940, in Enterprise, Alabama, Mr. Cordle was the son of the late Rev. Emmitt O. and Beulah Mae Bradshaw Cordle.
On May 6, 1959, he married the love of his life, the late Mae Elizabeth McAfee Cordle. They shared 63 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and love.
Mr. Cordle worked faithfully for UPS for over 30 years before retiring. He was a man deeply devoted to his faith and served for many years at the former First Assembly of God in Albany. During his time there, he served as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and Royal Ranger Leader. His steady leadership, servant’s heart, and unwavering commitment to the Lord left a lasting impact on many lives.
He loved spending time with his family, especially camping and taking family vacations to the mountains. He never missed an opportunity to enjoy a good Western movie; they were among his very favorites.
He was a devoted father to four children: Jerry Cordle (Donna) of Leesburg, Georgia; Vickie West (Steve) of Dallas, Georgia; Angela Mims of Leesburg, Georgia; and the late Gregory Cordle.
He was a proud and loving “Papa” to seven grandchildren: Kristopher West, Brittany West, David Cherry, Jr. (Logan Menke), Michael Cherry (Amberly), Katlynn West Alvarez (Eddie), Lauren Cordle, and Jacob Cordle; and four great-grandchildren: Lindy Cherry, Sadie Cherry, Brooklyn Alvarez, and Ollie Cherry.
He is also survived by his sister, Sandra Cordle of Clanton, Alabama, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his beloved wife, parents, and infant son, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wendell Cordle.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Willson Hospice House for their compassionate care, kindness, and unwavering support during his final days.
Gerald will be remembered as a faithful servant of God, a loving husband and father, and a proud Papa whose legacy of faith and devotion will continue through the generations.
