Mr. Gary Lee Smith, 65, of Albany, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026.

Services honoring Gary’s life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Mercedes Baptist Church, 2623 Moultrie Road Albany, GA. 31705 with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Gerry Dorre will officiate.

Born on February 10, 1961, at Camp Lejeune, NC, Gary was the son of the late John George Smith Jr. and Grace Margaret Dodd Smith. He retired from the Marine Corp Logistics Base and enjoyed reading. He loved God, his family, his church family and enjoyed going to the gym. He also enjoyed watching the North Carolina Tar Heels Basketball team. Gary was a faithful member of Mercedes Baptist Church of Albany where he enjoyed teaching Sunday school.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his siblings, Margaret Webb, and Ricky Smith.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Lisa Merritt Smith; daughter, Sarah Smith Pruitt and Steven of Blue Ridge; grandchildren, Mary Grace Pruitt, Steven Lee Pruitt, and Evelyn Jane Pruitt; siblings, John Smith and Melanie of Cordele, Jennifer Stone of Jacksonville, FL, and Robin Massey of Lee County, several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
