Edward Cullen “Eddie” Butler, known to some as Doonk, age 71, of Lee County, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2022, in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home with a visitation and luncheon to follow at the funeral home. The family would like to invite all guests in attendance to join them for lunch. Born January 2, 1951, in Albany, Eddie was the son of the late Mack Butler Sr. and Evelyn Koon Butler. He worked for many years in the sales industry. Eddie loved the outdoors and when he was able, was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed working in his yard, tinkering with his truck, and was a huge Georgia Bulldog fan. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he will be greatly missed by all. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Butler. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Joy Avera Butler of Lee County; children, Brian Butler (Mandy) of Americus, and Whitney Passmore (Brandon) of Leesburg; Matthew Kirtlink who he considered a son; four grandchildren, Cullen Butler, Ansleigh Butler, Colton Passmore, and Weston Passmore; siblings, Mack Butler Jr. (Sherry) of Bozeman, MT, and Terry Butler (Sara) of Camilla; and a host of extended family and friends that loved him dearly. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mars Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at PO Box 101 Edison, GA 39846 in memory of his daughter Kelly Butler, or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
