Mr. Don Robin Taylor, 64, of Albany, Georgia, passed away on September 13, 2026, peacefully in his home. He was born on May 1, 1962, in Albany, GA to the late O.V. and Geraldine Taylor.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 17, in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce English officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service.
Don was a one-of-a-kind man. He was a loving husband, father, Pawpaw, brother, and friend, and he loved his family with everything he had.
For 43 years, Don shared his life with his wife and best friend, Sharon Bullington Taylor. Together, they built a family and a life filled with love, laughter, and memories that will be treasured forever.
Don spent his entire life working on cars. Cars were more than just a job to him—they were something he truly loved. If something had an engine, a problem, or needed fixing, there was a good chance Don had an opinion about it and probably knew how to fix it.
He also loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed being outdoors. And if there was karaoke, you could bet Don wanted to be there. He went to karaoke every chance he got and, true to his personality, he always wanted to be the first one on the list. With his unmistakably raspy voice, he would get up and sing without hesitation. Karaoke was just another place where Don could be himself, have a good time, and keep the people around him laughing.
But as much as he loved cars, hunting, fishing, and karaoke, there was nothing he loved more than his family.
Don was a proud dad to his two daughters, Dianne Frisbee (Joshua Frisbee) and Robin Owens (Jonathan Owens). He loved his girls fiercely and would do anything in the world for them. And then came his grandchildren, Rylan and Lincoln, who gave him his favorite title of all: Papa Don/Pawpaw.
Sundays with his grandchildren were especially important to Don. Those days were filled with the kind of simple moments that become the memories a family holds onto forever. Rylan and Lincoln knew Pawpaw loved them, and there was never any question that they were the center of his world.
Anyone who knew Don knew he was opinionated—and hardheaded as they come. He could be grumpy, and he wasn’t exactly known for keeping his opinions to himself. But that was Don. And somehow, even when he was fussing, he could usually make you laugh. His sense of humor, his stubbornness, his gruffness, and his big heart were all part of the man his family loved.
Don wasn’t always the easiest person to argue with—and most people probably learned eventually that they weren’t going to win. But if you were one of his people, you could count on him. He would do anything for the people he loved. He showed his love not always through words, but through the things he did, the problems he fixed, the time he gave, and simply by being there.
Don is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon Bullington Taylor; his daughters, Dianne Frisbee (Joshua Frisbee) and Robin Owens (Jonathan Owens); his grandchildren, Rylan Owens and Lincoln Owens; and his brother, Alan Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, O.V. and Geraldine Taylor, and his brother, Robert Keith Taylor.
To his family, he wasn’t just Don. He was Daddy. He was Pawpaw. He was the person who could make you laugh, make you aggravated, give you an opinion you didn’t ask for, fix just about anything, and still be the first person you called when you needed something.
His absence will leave a hole that cannot be filled. But his family will carry him with them—in the stories they tell, the laughter he left behind, the sound of his raspy voice singing karaoke, the lessons he taught, and in every Sunday when they wish Pawpaw could be there.
Don loved his family more than anything in this world. And there is no doubt that he was loved just as much in return.
Rest easy, Daddy. You will be missed more than words can say and loved for the rest of our lives.
