David William Murray

Mr. David William Murray, 88, of Leesburg, peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at his home.

Born on March 1, 1937, in Providence Rhode Island, David was the son of the late Bernard and Meridieth Blackmar Murray. He served his country in the United States Navy and devoted his life to Education. He spent 30 plus years as a High School Chemistry and Physics teacher at North Smithville High School in North Smithville Rhode Island. He loved to travel the country in his R.V., enjoyed gardening and was a wise and sassy man who loved laugher. Ice cream sundaes brought him much joy and watching Lone Ranger was special to him as it brought back childhood memories with siblings. He was a devout Catholic and attended St. Teresa’s Catholic Church of Albany, GA. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend David will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Muriel Landry Murray and 5 siblings.

Those left to cherish his memory include his 5 children and their spouses, Michelle Lapierre and Jerry of Woonsocket, RI, John Murray and Laurie of Woonsocket, RI, Bernell Murray of Jupiter, FL, Melissa Marquis and Robert of Acton, ME, and Laurie Dyer and Rupert of Leesburg, GA; his brother, Michael Murray; 12 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A celebration of life service will be held in Rhode Island at a later date to be announced.
