Charles Edward Bruce, Sr. CPA

Mr. Charles Edward Bruce, 81, of Dawson, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

Services honoring his life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Bethel Cemetery (Bridges Crossroad on Highway 32 West in Terrell County). Rev. Charles Jones will officiate, and the family will visit with friends following the service.

Born on September 21, 1944, in Terrell County, Charles was the son of the late Samuel L. Bruce and Sara Smith Bruce. After graduating from Terrell County High School, he graduated from the University of Georgia. He then served as a professor at Georgia Southwestern where he also furthered his education in receiving a master’s degree in accounting. In 1977 Charles established his own certified public accounting business in Terrell County where he worked tirelessly the rest of his life. He was a member of The Lions Club, Rotary Club and was Methodist by faith. In those seldom times when he was not working, he enjoyed scuba diving and travelling with his beloved wife. He was a man of great wisdom and often could be found reading encyclopedias.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jessica Lee Shirah and his brother, Samuel L. Bruce, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dorothy Deal Bruce of Dawson; his children, Sarah Grace Lee and Kevin of Warner Robins, and Charles Edward Bruce, Jr. and Regina of Albany; 5 grandchildren, Brian Lee, Michael Lee, Kahlan Bruce, Rebecca Bruce, and Aden Bruce; 2 great-grandchildren, Baker Lee and Annie Lee; special sister-in-law, Carolyn Penny; nephews, Trey and Bryton, and nieces, Suzanne and Tina.
