Betty Jo Cannon Perry

Mrs. Betty Jo Perry, 90, of Dawson, peacefully passed away early Sunday morning at her daughter’s home in Byron.

Born on May 21, 1936, in Dodge County, GA, Mrs. Perry was the daughter of the late John and Sarah Slaughter Cannon. She worked for many years as manager of Eleanor’s Dress Shop and greatly enjoyed visiting the sick and shut ins. She was known as a prayer warrior and often visited nursing homes and hospitals where she prayed for others. She taught Sunday school faithfully for many years and was a member of Life Church in Leesburg. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother she will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, Tommy Hillman Perry; her children, Vicky Simmons and David of Byron, and Edward Claxton Maddox, Jr. of Culloden; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Melvin Cannon and Jeanine Tucker.
