Barbara Ann Wright

Mrs. Barbara Bethel Wright, 88, of Leesburg, peacefully passed away on Wednesday evening, May 27, 2026, at Willson Hospice House.

Born July 28, 1937, in Boston Massachusetts, Mrs. Wright was the daughter of the late Stanley “Scotty” Bethel and Mattie “Patsy” Shivers Bethel. Barbara will be remembered for her deep love of family; her generous spirit and warmth she brought into the lives of everyone who knew her. She was known to have the faith of a child and had a sweet and kind soul. She enjoyed cooking for her family, especially her famous lasagna that was known to her family as the best. She also enjoyed traveling and was of the Christian faith. Her legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who were always at the center of her world.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 72 years, Jack Wright of Leesburg; her children, Tammy Hodges and Phil of Richmond, VA, Billy Wright and Cindy of Leesburg, and Paula Melvin and Tyler of Leesburg; 9 grandchildren, Michael Hodges and Neree, Christopher Hodges, Alana Anderson and Levi, Matt Austin and Mandy, Tiffany Cook and Kevin, Wesley Wright and Kaitlyn, Anthony Melvin, Christina Wingate and Brandon, and Brittney Geer and Lawrence; and 16 great-grandchildren, Presley, Lincoln, Carsyn, Everet, Dever, Harper, Conley, Keaton, Emersyn, Hamten, Henley, Danielle, Ian, Emma, Emmett, and Lyla.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. Rev. Mark Cunningham will officiate with entombment will follow in the Crown Hill Mausoleum.
