Mr. Alvin Pettit, 81, of Leesburg, Georgia died peacefully at home on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Born on September 10, 1944 in Yorkshire, England, Alvin was the son of Albert and Kathleen Carr Pettit. In 1981 he and his family moved to Canada where he was a dedicated employee of Coats and Clarks for 17 years. In 2000 he transferred with Coats and Clark to Albany, Georgia until his retirement.  

A man of strong faith, Alvin loved the Lord and was a devoted member of First Methodist Church Albany and The Littleton Sunday School Class.

Alvin was the loving husband of Joyce Pettit; the dear father of Matthew (Jodi) Pettit, Heather (Paul) Zelisko, Jennifer (Garrett) Reaves, Luke (Shae) Pettit; cherished Papa of Ryan, Georgia, Stephan, Natalie, Robert, Grace, Terri, and Daniel; Step-Papa to Gena, Eli, and Garrison.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Simon Pettit.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Willson Hospice House, 320 Foundation Lane, Albany, Georgia, 31707 or First Methodist Church Albany Altar Fund, 307 Flint Avenue, Albany, Georgia 31701.
