Ms. Alphia Virginia Denton, 62, of Poulan, peacefully passed away at her sister’s home in Sylvester on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
The family will host a memorial service at a later date.
Virginia was born on January 2, 1963, in Albany, GA to the late Sam and Mary Denton. She dedicated her life to caring for others, working in the medical field as a caregiver. She had a gift for compassion that extended beyond her profession, and she became a “Mama” to everyone who was blessed to know her. Virginia had a special love for flowers and found peace being at the beach. Above all, family was most important to her, and she cherished time spent with her grandchild. A loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she will forever be remembered for the way she made everyone feel like family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Southern Williams (Brandon) of Sylvester, Sammy Waller of Doerun, and Hunter Denton (Cheyenne) of Sylvester; granddaughter, Liliana; siblings, Ray Denton of Salisbury, MD, Sam Denton (Sarah) of Tallahassee, FL, Wayne Denton (Teresa), Scottie Denton (Sandra), Lisa Brady (Wade), and Anita Holloway (Rick) all of Sylvester; and a host of extended family members and friends that loved her dearly.
Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home was given the honor to serve Virginia’s family.
