Walter Ray Mchan

Mr. Walter Ray McHan, 71, of Cordele, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at his home.

Services honoring the life of Mr. McHan will be conducted at 4:30 p.m., Monday, April 3, 2023, in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home, 375 US Highway 19 South Leesburg, GA 31763. Bro. Carl Gamble will officiate. A visitation will be held thirty minutes before the service at the funeral home.

Born December 15, 1951, in Cuthbert, Mr. McHan was the son of the late George S. McHan and Mary Mainor McHan. In addition to his parents, Mr. McHan was preceded in death by his brother, George S. McHan, Jr; sister, Wanda McHan Wills; brother-in-law, Melvin Wills; and niece, Teresa Wills.

Mr. McHan worked for Maule Aircraft in Moultrie for 15 years and retired after 35 years with Woodhaven Furniture Manufacturing of Cairo. He was an avid sports fan that enjoyed watching The Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Braves, and The Georgia Bull Dogs. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Moultrie.

Survivors include his son, Keith McHan and Vi of Leesburg; mother of his son and caregiver, Norma McHan Smith of Cordele and formerly of Lee County; sister, Gloria McHan Milner and Talmadge of Cuthbert; brother, Danny McHan of Moultrie; grandchildren, Ian Smith and Abby, and Shelby Burgess; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Raelynn, and Luke; sister-in-law, Gwen Morse McHan; and several nieces, and nephews.
