Leola Irvin Cooper

Mrs. Leola Irvin Cooper, 93, of Leesburg, went home to be with her loving Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 29, 2023.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2023, in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home of Leesburg with Rev. Steve Waldron officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral.

Born November 29, 1929, in Baker County, Mrs. Cooper was the daughter of the late Jim and Annie Cribb Irvin. She worked as a supervisor for many years in food service at the Lee County State Prison. She was known as an excellent cook who enjoyed teaching others how to make “real” chicken and dumplings, southern style vegetables and much more. She loved Jesus, her family, and especially adored her grandchildren. She was known as a Pentecostal woman who was a prayer warrior and wanted all her family to know Jesus Christ. She was a member of Life Church of Leesburg and former member for many years of Liberty Parkway Church of God. Psalm 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.”

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her husband, Brady L. Cooper; her children, Johnny Cooper, Steve Cooper, and Darlene Clay; siblings, Nancy, Dorothy, Frances, Myrtle, Vera, Bill, and Ted, and son-in-law, Lundy Clay.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Suzanne Simmone and Julius of Temple, TX, Beverly Cannon and Terry of Leesburg, and Sandra Bermes and Peter of Leesburg; daughter's-in-law, Donna Cooper, and Ann Cooper; 17 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren.
