Dorothy Burson Jones

February 6, 1931 — October 22, 2017

Mrs. Dorothy Burson Jones, 86, of Hogansville, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, October 22, 2017. A lifelong resident of Hogansville, Mrs. Jones was the daughter of the late William Polk Burson and Emma Thompson Burson. She worked for many years for the William Carter Company distribution as a supervisor, was a longtime member of Antioch Baptist Church of Hogansville, and was currently attending Trinity Baptist Church in Manchester until her health declined. She enjoyed traveling, having visited most every state, and will be remembered as a humble and Godly lady who loved The Lord and read his word daily. Survivors include her children, Brenda K. Jones and Pat Kochanowski, James Jones, and Charles Jones and Sandy Smith, all of Hogansville; grandchildren, Joseph W. Jones, Sr., Justin Jones, William and Brandi Jones, Michael and Lauren Jones, Cynthia and Kenyon Kersh, Becky and Trey Hudson, Christina and Wayne Gay, Mandy and Ben Sutton, and Julie Jones; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Joseph, Jr., Ryan, Haley, Brianna, Randi, Kalian, Rhys, Kerigan, Kyle, and Ellie. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, James Bluford Jones; son, William “Buck” Joseph Jones, and five siblings. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 25, 2017 in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. Reverend Wesley Boatman and Reverend Will Cole will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Tuesday night. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
